The company was established in 2017 by Fiona Carter and Caroline Parr, colleagues who worked together for a number of years in the health service in the Highlands.
We set up the business as a result of our own experience of trying to access services to help us support our elderly relatives to maintain independent living. While we could access personal care services, it was not easy to find a service whose focus was on promoting the mental wellbeing of our relatives and who had the staff with the knowledge, experience and ability to deliver such support.
What we wanted was someone who could offer practical help around the home but who also had the skills and experience to be able to form a close, caring and compassionate relationship with someone very special to us. A person who would encourage and support our relative to engage in activities, build on their strengths, help them to feel valued and to look forward with confidence.
Our background and experience we believe enables us to provide a specialist and holistic approach to the bespoke service that we offer. We have a small established team of skilled staff.
All our staff have experience of providing both housekeeping and companionship services for a senior clientele and some have worked in other professional capacities. Working in partnership with the client and those close to them we tailor our service to meet the needs and preferences of each individual and seek to deliver that service in a friendly, discrete and professional manner.
We recognise the importance of the relationship between staff member and client and we are committed to finding you the right person to work with you. We will undertake a detailed assessment with you of the service you require and then identify the member of staff with whom we think you will get on best. We aim to allocate a member of staff to you within 2 weeks of this assessment being completed.
We will arrange for you to meet your housekeeper/
companion before they start work. You can specify the days and times your housekeeper/companion will visit. If you can be flexible with your choice of days and times it will be easier for us to quickly allocate you a member of staff.
We offer both housekeeping and companion services between the hours of 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
Our comprehensive range of housekeeping services includes; light housework, laundry and ironing, shopping, support with household trades, checking a home for example when a client is in hospital or on holiday, assistance with household correspondence.
The aim of our companion service is to provide clients with someone who will be a friendly and supportive presence in their home and so assist them to maintain their independence. Our companions spend time with the client engaging in activities of the client’s choice such as; accompanying to appointments, joining in with a hobby, assisting with correspondence and modern technology, reminiscing about stories, photos and times past, accompanying the client to social activities or simply having a chat and a cuppa.
We aim to provide a bespoke service, tailored to your needs and wherever possible we will try and accommodate you requirements. Our visits are for a minimum period of 2 hours.
We interview all prospective staff, take up references from past employers and insist on background checks through Disclosure Scotland. All our staff must successfully complete a probationary period and we provide training for all staff.
